We are asked to apply for leaves when the work will be suspend temporarily as the client side will not be available.

Been through that. You can attend training mate. And use training WBSE for that period. There are numerous trainings available - you can check LKM calendar.

Its better to apply for some training in furlough period than reducing leave… check learning calendar for training
