Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is it possible to retract the resignation before the last working day, and if so, what’s the process? Would appreciate any insights or experiences shared.

Yes, you can withdraw the resignation but do not wait till last day if planning to withdraw. First speak with your people lead that you wanted to withdraw your resignation and later speak with hr. After discussion drop an email to your people lead keeping hr in cc about your decision to withdraw.

Resignation withdraw acceptance completely depends on people lead and HR approval.
