[Travel] So a basic 7 day solo trip in India can go upto 50k if you choose hygiene and safety

Why not add another 50k and do an international trip

I just did one and it mostly depends on where you go, how much comfort one is seeking. Like any where in europe will definitely be more than 1 lakh but SEA can be done in under 1 lakh

Basic decent hotels in India are nothing less than 5k a night. It is very difficult to find something

True but for international trips small costs like visa, exchange rate etc adds up which wont be an issue in India.

Went to Bali recently. Overall a great fun place with beautiful beaches, temples and other tourist attractions. Total spending was around 2L for 2. This was my first international trip.

My problem with international trip is that you have to plan every smallest detail especially if going with wife/ family. Medicines, Cash, Charger plug point attachment, Basic snacks, Vegetarian Food outlets with good ratings, Money exchange, ATM with 0 forex. This added a lot of stress for me. Maybe because I am wired this way.

I have visited Kashmir, Andamans and Goa all costing around 1.2L for 2. But I was a lot stress free in all these trips.

Go for an international trip only if you are planning for more than 3 days.

Aren't hostel chains like Hosteller and Zostel pretty safe? I recently did a Coorg staycation for a week. 3k for a dorm bed for a week. I had my own bike so I am not counting travel costs. Rest is food and that's subjective.

More realistic scenario would be me doing a week of Mcleodganj from Delhi. 2.5k round trip Bus 4k for dorm bed in hosteller 2k for an overnight trek 3.5k for scooty rent and petrol Rest on food

So all and all under 20k

Taking a private room exponentially increases costs for sure. SEA is equally cheap imo based on my recent trip to Krabi. Accounting for how I have paid 11k for a flight from Bangalore to Delhi. Why not spend 12k for a flight to Phuket. And it's Visa free as well

And clean? Bus and dorm I would avoid as a girl. Infact I avoid road trips in India for a reason

Why go for double the expenses, just for International experience of lower rung. Makes sense only if you have covered most of the top visit places in India. Otherwise, better spend 4-5 times and go for proper International trip (not low cost SE countries)
