Transitioning to AI and IoT in Water Resources Engineering – Career Guidance Needed
Hello everyone, I’m an M.Tech graduate in Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering from IIT Madras, currently working on consultancy projects like Integrated Water Resource Management Plans and DPR preparation for irrigation and drainage systems. I aim to transition into the Artificial Intelligence and Digital domain, focusing on applying AI, IoT, and data science to water resources engineering. I’d appreciate guidance on the following: Salary Progression: What are the typical salary figures (₹) at entry-level in this niche? How does compensation grow over a 30-year span? Could you provide a breakdown for every 5-year milestone? Technical Skills and Resources: What are the must-have technical skills to excel in AI applications for water resources (specific tools, frameworks, programming languages)? Recommendations for high-quality courses, certifications, or training programs (with links, if possible). Any foundational and advanced books to master every two years? Career Roadmap: A 30-year actionable plan with milestones every 2 years (1–2, 3–4, ..., 29–30 years). Key targets for: Career roles and responsibilities at each stage. Skill development milestones (specific tools or frameworks to master). Potential companies. If you are a seasoned professional with experience in applying digital technologies to hydraulics and hydrology, I’d love to hear your practical advice and strategies. Thank you in advance for sharing your expertise!
