Transitioning out of Consulting
Hello fellow Grapevinions!
I’m currently an Associate at McKinsey and exploring opportunities to transition into a product role. Before my MBA, I was a software engineer, so I have a technical background, but I’m trying to figure out the best way to make this shift.
Would love to hear from folks who’ve been through this:
How should I prepare for product roles, and what skill sets do companies typically look for?
What’s the best way to find roles, apply strategically, and connect with recruiters?
Any companies that come to mind where the work is actually enjoyable?
Appreciate any insights!

MBB experience will help you to get product roles in Startups. If you like the industry vertical you supported, use that to your advantage and scout for startups in that space. Prior to that have a good trip on product concepts

Thanks buddy. Wanted to quickly check product design, product sense and general RAC discussions. Anything apart from that covered?
Also not too keen on startups. Mostly will look for Big Tech and similar.

Why dont you try airtibe?

How did you decide you wanna switch careers!
