Transitioning from Testing to Development: Overcoming Politics and Empty Promises at Work

I’ve been working at TCS for 2.7 years in automation, but I feel like I haven’t been gaining the skills I aimed for. The project environment is heavily influenced by politics, and despite multiple promises of onsite opportunities, promotions, and significant salary increments, nothing has materialized. This has made me realize that I’ve wasted valuable time here, so I’ve decided to focus on upskilling myself. I’m transitioning from testing to development, as I believe this will open up better opportunities for me in the future. It’s frustrating to see how things have unfolded, but I’m determined to take control of my career and grow my skill set in more impactful areas. Has anyone else gone through a similar experience or successfully made the switch from testing to development?

Yes, many have faced similar issues. Upskilling is a smart move. Focus on learning new technologies and certifications. Persistence and continuous learning will help you transition successfully.

Overall exp is 2.7 years ? Then promotion and onsite are not applicable until 3.5 or 4 yrs of exp.

Unfortunately stuck in same role but upskilling and looking job outside.
