Toxic Remote Policy

So, I joined this company located in Delhi last year from Bangalore as a permanent WFH employee. Initial 6 months were fine, even though I was aware they had pre-installed tracking software called "Teramind" while sending the laptop! But in the last 3 months the work culture or environment has completely flipped and turned into Toxic.

First they made us install a remote tracking software called "Hubstaff" which tracks keyboard and mouse activity and time, and takes 4 screenshots every 10 minutes.

Then they made it compulsory 8 hours a day excluding any break like lunch or tea.

This month they tied work hours with Salary and started deducting the entire day's pay even if you are short by like half an hour!

Almost all employees know they need to leave but are kinda stuck due to the current job market situation.

I'M thinking of quitting without finding another job now, I'm just mentally tired and frustrated with the situation I find myself in. All my emotional energy is spent, I just don't know what to do😞

You're right I should have mentioned the name! The company name is YCSPL! But it's not an IT company anymore it has turned into a labour organisation with master and slave roles.

write a python script with pyautogui which will move mouse and click randomly (you can map the scroll bar x,y coordinates of your screen)open vs code/editor of your choice and leave it as long as you want. dm if you still need help doing it.

As a v1.1 for this python script. Switch windows and code files to add variance in screenshots every 10 seconds.

But usually the companies that do this kind of micromanaging. Also do not allow employees to install or run anything in the system. No admin access.

Apart from keybord and mouse tracking. I also think that monitoring software also scans open processes, runtime etc. Maybe even webcam.

I'd leave. I'd be far more comfortable unemployed than being held hostage. Got no time for this shit.

Although, I do have the admin access and and can do the script thing but I'm just like why? It's already very suffocating and this temporary hack only prolongs the inevitable!

Haha Activespan, one thing though, Bangalore always has more opportunities. Further, even though I wish to leave Bangalore for NCR, the opportunities are sparse

That's what you expect from a staffing and consulting company.

Don't leave without a job in hand. Some money is better than no money. Just stop giving a fak about them.

Keep looking, there are less jobs but there are jobs.

From an engineering perspective, i wonder how much do such companies pay to these tools like Hubstaff, since they sound expensive (24 screenshots every hour x 8 x number of employees, needs huge databases)

Sad how companies will go out of the way to spend on such micromanagement tools than pay the same to their devs to get good job done.

You can beat hubstaff activity tracking by python script and the screenshots by using extrenal monitor (used to work 2 yrs back) But long term you should leave the company If you are dev look for temporary jobs on wellfound. Also do a munity Rile up enough employees to stage a mass walkoff. Fuck those fuckers.

Sad reality. I enforce something similar on all my teams being the head of product. Though I myself hate it, left with no option when an org takes that route.
