Trending @Infosys; Toxic or not ?
My manager asked us who knows automation I replied - " same thing which(1 person from my team). mentioned.. Need help with with setting up the Automation test. I have never worked in automation before. As mentioned I was going through video but didnt find to setup the automation part, the video is more about about general idea. And the video 15 hours long so I was not able to watch completely."
Then he replied in multiple answers as below -
your squad has super champion
did you speak to him?
its simply not putting efforts for learining
and whatever developer expertise you have...
if you are not able to learn automation, to me you are just meeting expectations.

Your manager's response seems harsh and unhelpful. It's important to seek guidance and support, not just criticism. Consider discussing your concerns with HR or looking for mentorship within the team.

It's okay to not know things or ask for help that shows you're keen to learn and complete the task no developer knows everything the criticism is very negative unhealthy and unnecessary

I used to have that "good guy" mentality. Taking things personally, always saying "yes", keeping my own needs aside, etc. Until and unless there is mutual respect amongst two people, a professional relationship is nothing but a master-slave arrangement. I have stopped tolerating that. Its hard to get rid of the slave mindset. But one must fight it. And stay vigilant of one's decisions, are they based on slave mindset or are they based on mutual respect.

Was it directed towards you personally or to the whole team? Do you mean automation test as the one done by testers or doing unit testing using unit testing automation framework. Let’s not throw toxicity too much around for such a small interaction .. folks should be thankful not working for EY or other consulting firms

It was directly pointed to me in the group. But the other team mates were also facing the same problem. They also mentioned their issue but these replies were for me.

Honestly. Don’t take these things too much seriously. You have not worked in a client environment and have no idea how heated those interactions are. Do your work , take your learning’s and move on if it does not suit you. If these things are affecting you, you have no idea what is infront of you

your manager thinks that he's a cricket coach. Just keep on trying/ learning, take help from experience people.

Basically ur manager is acting like "kama purta mama" so you have a diplomatic answer for ur manager as well as for ur colleagues
