Trending @Cognizant; Toxic manager with zero technical skill
I need your help, actually my manager is very very toxic. He dont know anything about technical things. He is still level manager.
When I asked him to give me a release from current project because i have other skills in development.
He is telling me about 18 months policy to get release. My 18 months is completing in 1.5 months. So when i told him same, now he is telling about backfill arrangement and telling to talk with HR.
What should I do ? What if HR is also in their side ?

HRs can help you...I was in similar situation in past and a place like Cognizant have strong corporate governance for Employees and benefits...do check it out!

I would recommend to reach out to AIITEU.. It is India's IT union and they have their own lawyers. Please talk with them once and take steps.
PS. I haven't talked with this org but I have been following them for a while

You should confront him and make a scenes out of these things....let it be a lesson to everyone

Get your release approved by the client manager. (again, this depends on the client and your rapo with him. ) but first, drop a release request email to your manager. Let him respond to it. Then take it to HR, client is last option but a sure-shot release.

Eventually, plan for your next job, and don't stay at a place where you are not valued and respected

Switching job will help you much along with the salary hike and position as well.

HR will not be on their side. They will be in employees side.

Going to HR will not help as your project release is sole decision of your reporting manager. First try talking to his reporting manager by dropping email explaining your situation. If that does not work switch your company.

Don't complete the task..just focus on upskill...he ll release

You can talk to HR, also you can take help from your business manager

Cognizant has its own mechanism to resolve the toxic work culture issue, please go through our emails and for sure you will find a way.
