To quit or not to quit!
Hi research folks,
I work at a Pune based research firm, and it's fully remote with 1.5 yoe.
Fully remote?! Yes, it's fully remote. My manager has never called me to the office.
Okay, here it comes with a cost - no boundaries. I mostly work 10-12 hours on a daily basis.
So here is the catch, most research companies (not the big names tho) have a cutthroat competition as to who can deliver a project in the least number of days which requires a good knowledge of ME (quantitative aspect).
My organisation has come up with a new policy as to whomever won't be working on the quantitative side as soon as possible, they will fire.
Ideally, this should happen when someone has an experience of 2 years as they gain knowledge of various markets through qualitative secondary research.
Now, the problem is not upskilling or learning things, it's about the issues ahead. When someone makes a market estimation sheet with all the number crunching and market share, sometimes the client doesn't agree to the number and hence people get post purchase queries which is, um,...ugly. Thanks to managers who make it ugly!
Besides this project issue, one has to focus on the production issue as well. Writing long articles (with no AI, ofc), with again number crunching which has become burdensome.
Also I don't see any proper growth in this industry (not the big names tho, again!) The work is repetitive and I feel like there's no proper upskilling in real terms.
Please help out 🙏🏻✨

FYI... Every job is repetitive. 90% jobs in India are clerical. Unless one is in a leadership role with p&L responsibility. Jobs are boring.
Fully remote job is a blessing. Unless one lands with a high pay, don't quit this. Use this opportunity to move out of Pune.T1 cities are dead end. Life is not worth living here.
If you have a family or hoping to have one someday, you owe them a decent life. Not just in monetary terms but overall living as well.
I stay in my hometown and this is my first job so I don't have a proper in office experience as well
Office experience is over rated. The HR team and reporting manager do nothing except tracking your log in log out time, how many rotis you eat, how many breaks you take etc .
Worst of all, you will have to participate in the nonsensical Friday games and other assorted idiocy that those rangoli idiots do to bring some meaning to their lives.
