TNPSC Gov jobs possible?

I recently decided to change my career from IT to TNPSC. but my friends are asking me not to have much hope in that dream. They are saying that the selection happens only on the basis of money not on the basis of merit. Only if we bribe them with lakhs of money, they select us. I have also heard from some relatives that they gave an amount of lakhs for some posts and got it back after rejection . Is that so? Can't a normal person get a gov job of higher level by hardwork without money?

I agree with your friend. The going rate for a teacher job in my village in south TN is 1-2 lakh. This is for a school. If college the amount goes up. Moreover I don't recommend a gvmt job for anyone to move from private. Gvmts are bankrupt. Last time there are many state governments that have not paid retirement benefits. Some states have defaulted on salaries.

With reservation and looming bankruptcy this should be the last option.

I didn't read the last line - " hardwork and without money"... I hope you have recently come from Mars.

If you have so much time to prepare, don't listen to anyone. You can get postings if you score good marks.

Thanks for the encouragement. Can we get DC, DSP services too. Even though I find on YouTube the inspirational stories of ppl with poor parents clearing it. But still when I hear from ppl say they have lost it because they didn't bribe anyone, I slightly lose the hope. They say that it's happening for generations and they have seen it with their eyes
