Title: Should I switch from Samsung R&D (Full-time) to Glance.ai (Contract Role) for 2L/month? Need honest opinions.
Hi everyone, I really need some outside perspective because I am genuinely stuck.
I currently work at Samsung R&D Noida as an SDE / Android Developer. I joined directly from college and have been here since. It's been 7–8 months that I’ve been trying very hard to switch companies, but I’m not getting interviews or matching roles.
Today something unexpected happened: I interviewed for a contract role at Glance.ai — I honestly took it as a practice interview, but as the interview progressed, they actually liked me and offered 2 lakh/month in-hand, which is almost double my current salary (I earn around 1.03 LPA in-hand at Samsung).
They also said that after 2–3 months, if my performance is good, there is a high chance of converting to full-time.
But here is the dilemma:
Pros of switching:
Salary becomes 2× instantly
Work seems interesting
Chance to convert to full-time
Bangalore ecosystem is better for Android roles
Cons:
Contract role → no guarantee, risk involved
I have a 2-month notice period at Samsung Glance wants me to join in 20 days (This is a big mismatch — I can’t magically leave Samsung in 20 days)
Leaving Samsung (a stable brand + full-time role) after being placed directly from college feels risky
Relocating to Bangalore would increase my expenses
My questions to the community:
-
Should I leave a stable full-time Samsung job for a high-paying contract role?
-
Is 2L/month worth the risk?
-
Has anyone worked with Glance.ai / InMobi and can share how stable their contract roles are?
-
Should I negotiate for joining time or ask for buyout support?
-
Or should I just stay at Samsung and continue preparing for a proper full-time switch?
