Time to kick out the Bench Warmers...
Great initiative by TCS , eliminating bench warmers will only help hard working employees whether they are allocated or not, because they will find out their way.
By rolling out new policy, those bench warmers will be kicked out as they are parasites for hard working employees and they are the only reason to why appraisals and promotions are on hold.
Agreed i saw associates sitting 720 days on bench in rmg pool, when i asked rmg why such people even exist, then answer was they are working on policy to bring it down.. ao i think now within month they are giving warning over mail

720 to 35 😅, thats seems bit odd dont you think?
Only if notice period also matched to 35 days
It will be nice
And ppl thinking that bench ppl will go then they will get increments 😂 oh my , ppl are so easy to fool these days 🙄
Not at all like me many complained about this as these bench warmer had the gut to decline offered project, it was long pending due. Eating our qva, hike and what not..

It isn't going to solve any problem apart from giving courage to people who are in position to upskill and switch. If you keep bringing policies for a mass as if you are some government organisation, the problem will always grow. The biggest drawback for TCS right now is they don't want to create categorised and well researched policies. If you don't want to create separate clauses in WFO policy, bench policy, variable allowance policy, it won't matter how employee friendly you are or the charity you do, employees will always be unsatisfied. If they really want to eliminate the "bench warmers" category, you have to improvise from all directions. RMG don't have the intent to map you to a suitable project. They have a target to keep the pool allocated, how will making 35 day policy help RMG. It will just make people get allocated and shift the chaos from the pool to a particular project account. I think there should have been some changes to the RMG too-
- Make the role of a few RMGs at every location as a career counselor for freshers and high level employees(c3 & above). Recommend them something real, understand their capabilities and interest, provide them a timeline that if you don't get anything by this time, you goto the default allocation pool.
- Stop course completion mandates by TD. There are few courses like Rio, Gen AI which are recommended to be completed (TD suggests do next next it will take 1hr only). Stop that immediately! Some expert has recommended the curriculum for you, project should give you real time off to learn that.
- Make internal job search more flexible ( search, hire, release from project/account/BG etc.)
I can flag a few more but I think this much is enough to help people get a better approach. You might be a manager right now or in future.

This is another lolipop to force resign. And recently the CEO got the hike being an employee of the company then why not the other employees. Decision must be the same for all right? where is transparency? Employees getting nothing in this mahengai and also on names of compliance MLT and all.
Without any reason employees are forced to WFO and many just swipe and come back and on the other hand, the company says we are reducing carbon footprints.. Mind my words, the company is just thinking about their higher management staff and billings only. All others are just majdoor for them. HR owned company. I never recommend this company to anyone. I heard these kinds of things in the past but I think these all are rumours but now I think I should have believed.
You are lucky if no project and going to be laid off. I would advise to put papers before they do.

Exactly 💯, current management is the worst.

Agreed that some bench employees are misusing the thing very badly but not all like that iam in bench since 1 month and I know how iam trying to get allocated as soon as possible because I don't want to sit idle

Your point of view is meaningful if you can share the data of what % of workforce is on bench and what impact it has on revenue year by year. There must be other factors involved (like global factors/new project/ai impact). However I agree with your points to some extend.

Approximately 15% of the tcs workforce in the long-term bench who are doing nothing and eating revenue of hardworking employees. More accurate data you can check with any senior RMG colleague.

This will mainly affect associates on bench who are knowingly avoiding interviews calls, tries to cause issue in projects and get released occassionally These are the folks who are a bad name to folks who are actually trying to get allocated by attending interviews

💯 exactly

But 1 month is way too less. It should be 2-3 months. If an employee still refuses to accept the projects in this timeline. Then take any action

Yes indeed great decision I have seen many people with 20 lpa or more enjoying bench and ninja with 3.36 working like hell
