TIL: Wikipedia's posters begging for money are misleading and lie about it's "independence going away"/dire need for money!

The Wikimedia organization is replete with capital, and in a better financial situation than ever. They're practically lying to make you feel the website is going to shut down, so that you end up donating.

I think it's a good thing to do. And props to you for doing that. Just wanted to highlight the incorrect messaging, but they still work on donations.

Google, Amazon, and other big tech companies are donating millions to Wikipedia. That much money is more than enough for them; I'm not sure why they are begging so much.
