[Thread] What book has had the most profound impact on your thinking?
Personally, Antifragile by Nassim Nicholas Taleb and Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.
The concept of Antifragility, where systems and individuals not only withstand chaos but actually benefit from it, had reshaped my perspective on risk, resilience, and adaptability. It is extremely complementary to the writings of Marcus Aurelius but differing in key ways.
While both Antifragility and Stoicism encourage resilience in the face of adversity, they approach it differently. Stoicism emphasizes inner calm and acceptance of what cannot be changed, while Antifragility encourages actively seeking out challenges and volatility to grow stronger.
For me, the blend of these philosophies provides a more holistic approach to navigating life's uncertainties, combining the wisdom of the ancient Stoics with a proactive stance toward embracing chaos and harnessing it for personal growth.

@TepidFanny11 all great books actually. What did you learn from these?

Most impactful, have made me question world view. In order to live - Yeonmi Park Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell
Also liked Never spilt the difference - Christopher Voss

Most recently finished fooled by randomness - Naseem Taleb could relate to few points but rest of book was too heavy for me to digest might have to revisit at a later date ๐ค

@tbk outliers is just too fucking good.

Two of my all time favourite, life changing books. Would definitely recommend everyone to try once.

@ChangelingBorg Sadly wasnโt quite impactful for me. Boring. However, UPSC aspirants swear by it so I understand where itโs coming fromz

Not an UPSC aspirant for sure. But commented this just to point out that everything I have learnt comes from those books. They are written so precisely. I remember the science books, they were so playfully colourful and yet solid with the way explained things. It's one of those things which makes you wonder even the government institutions in India can churn out beautiful things.
