[Thread] What are the little things you find happiness in?

Lately, walking in the garden and watching birds chirp in the morning has become an underrated thing that I find deep happiness in.

Even late night walks are becoming interesting with an ice-cream at hand and the wind blowing in my hair.

What about you all?

Same here. My dad after retirement has is upto gardening. We get fresh okra, beans etc from our garden. Seeing the plants grow and taking a walk through the greenery makes me happy.

@Underpaid99 Oh wow, that is so beautiful. You get non-GMO and organic food for the feed.

When I lived in Gurgaon, during the winters after work and dinner, me and another resident in the building would make chai and go chill on the roof around a bonfire late into the night.

We'd discuss about dreams, goals, philosophy, or simply listen to to slow music in silence as the millennium city slept.

Occassionally, we'd have other friends and colleagues join us, and sometimes we'd share a joint too.

@QuietSurgery I completely agree. It puts you in the shoes of someone else and you get to live their life.

I loved Shoe Dog by Phil Knight I am currently starting Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson as well after finishing the one by Ashlee Vance 4 years back.

It may sound weird, but Delhi/Gurgaon traffic has so many stories if you observe closely. The sounds here are calming as compared to Bangalore’s (or maybe because its home)

  • looking out of on the 10th floor balcony as it rains and feeling grateful to be indoors. Opening the balcony door to enjoy the sound, sight and the chilly feel of rain. And knowing it will be fleeting.

  • seeing a plant bought from the nursery settling in well and witnessing the growth of brand new leaves and flowers

  • Friday evening going to sleep feeling good about the upcoming two days of holidays

  • meeting an old friend after ages. Makes me happy all day long both before and after the meeting

  • driving on the hills as it starts drizzling

  • hanging out with close friends talking about nothing and everything

  • enjoying a cup of chai / coffee with your loved one with phone in a different room

I really like looking out my window and observing the life around me. Makes me introspect about the life I lead and helps me be more mindful about things.

2 AM late-night talks, introspecting on how much life has changed in the last few years, looking at the sky, enjoying the cool breeze, and its calmness with your closest friends is second to none.

When I am alone, I prefer to read memoirs and life stories of people whom I admire and look up to. The feeling is surreal. Though it is temporary only, I try that at least some part of it stays with me forever.
