[Thread] Did you have a wish as a kid that went unfulfilled that now you can afford but don’t have the same interest anymore?
I’ll go first, getting that old PSP, the one which had WiFi in built. Or maybe PlayStation 2 which was like 5k-6k back then.
Now, I could get a PS5 or buy games to play on my PC, but the feeling is lost. Just like my childhood.
I guess I lived a part of my childhood today. Went on a walk and had a Cornetto IceCream, which back then I didn’t have the money for and had to buy an Orange/Cola IceCream. Then, I walked around my society.
Saw a few kids playing football and instantly teleported back to when I was a kid.
Now that child is gone and the dream has too. But still, it feels good remembering that 5 year old me would be proud of adult me, and that’s what truly matters. 🥰
I made this exact post 1 year back and it reminded me of how far I’ve come. I hope it makes you feel that too. ❤️

Mine has to be less monetary/materialistic.
I was in convent school and we had restrictions on Mehendi and other fashion stuff (long hair, pretty nails).
We were allowed just palm mehendi for Rakshabhandhan and it infuriated me, went into those my religion my culture rants.
I had decided I would have mehendi, nail paint, open hair all my life once I graduated.
Cut to decade later, mehendi is a task, hair is up in a bun always and paint only comes if there's an occasion.
P.S. I thought over your question all night to look for such a thing. Because there are many unfulfilled wishes I still cannot afford 😅😅

You said this last year:
I had two wishes wedding and own house.
"Mujhe shaadi karne ka bada shauk (tha)"
Now I understand the difference between wedding and marriages. So that's really out of the list
Still taking baby steps to that own house dream.

Own house is still on list. But cannot afford 😅
But thank you for this. I was wondering what I wrote last year

I wanted to buy a Spiderman Costume 🥲
Btw this post reminds of 1 song - 7 Years by Lucas Graham.

Thank you so much. I love that song.
What about the Batman uniform? I loved justice league in Cartoon Network. 🥹

Don't let your dreams be dreams. Spiderman cosplay this year Halloween

Computer
Bat, Cricket kit
Original metal fusion Beyblade
Jersey
Bike in college
Smartphone in college
Now I can afford most of the things but it feels like Dal chawal bachpan vali baat nahi

I guess we all have something similar:
- a cricket ball (leather/cork)
- keyboard (musical)
- some games, and more
Back then, I couldn't even think about asking these to my parents since I knew how difficult it was. But now that I can afford any and many, why I wanted them in the first place has long been lost.
Hey, I also have some icecream every now and then. It was never possible earlier, but now feels good.

Exactly. Maybe we all are living our childhood dreams in the guise of adulthood

I bought a keyboard after I was done with JEE, I was a keyboard player from 5th to 10th Std. Now I play it whenever I like a song too much and it relaxes me completely, tho I don’t play it frequently I am glad that I have it bought.

Buying an original Real Madrid football jersey.

Since the inception of this post- Gone back in thoughts, hitting nostalgia, and questioning myself what did I miss - My heart gave a pause to my brain, seriously this question is taking me rounds.
I gotta prep the list of tiny pleasures that I wanted in childhood, now forgotten. I shall come back in brief period.
Fingers Crossed, remembering responsibilities.

I’ll be waiting.

Wanted to build a kick-ass PC play everything on ultra high.
Have achieved that. Both the latest gen consoles, switch, a sweet PC with 3080ti, and a steam library with 2.5k games. But no desire to play
Now my steam is always like "0.7 hours in last 2 weeks"
Many of the regular squadmates from TF2/L4D/BC2/MW era have been inactive for years. I still find the motivation to play an indie hit (rimworld, Dave the diver) here and there but those days aren't coming back.
Upgrading my PC's RAM from 128MB to 512MB back in 2005 to play SA was more exciting than buying all this crap.

Oh exactly. I remember when I went from 1GB to 4GB for the first time and it was also insane.
Plus, 360p felt like HD back then.

Same here... I played CS competitively ... But .now I play games in story mode and most of them are left incomplete due to work pressure n time constraints

When I was in 3rd or 4th grade, there were 3 brothers in our society and we used to play together and stuff.
During Diwali, to avoid conflicts, their parents would buy them crackers and all the patakha for them. And to keep it away from the reach of their siblings, they would store them in suitcases(like the one you see people carry to the office, traditionally).
I have always dreamed of buying crackers and storing them in those black suitcases and taking them out to burst on Diwali.
Ab toh patake ka bhi mann nahi hi. 🥲
Also, you guys remember when they used to sell color pencils and stuff in suitcase types and all. They used to have that too. 😮

I have kept all my childhood dreams alive. Even if I don’t need them or don’t have enough time, I’m still going to fulfill them. Sometimes it’s not about the interests; it’s about seeing the satisfaction in the completion of the memories that you have been dreaming of all your life. That inner feeling is unexpressible and incomparable. :)

Yes 🙌🏻
