Thoughts on Dhruv Rathee?

Once, I was an ardent follower of the famous YouTuber Dhruv Rathee’s words, videos but off late, I have been seeing too much of his anti BJP propaganda videos. Also, people are talking that he is funded by AAP. Though he is good with the facts, figures & logics but now I am confused after seeing a lot of videos on how he is just brainwashing the public on the basis of the research done by some anti national people, living across the globe. What is your views on this?

Here's another perspective: Dhruv Rathee is a good critic of the government. We need such critics in the country regardless of who is ruling.

I have noticed a growing trend of discrediting and defaming critics instead of addressing their arguments directly.

It's crucial to differentiate between criticisms of the government and criticisms of the country. Dhruv Rathee's critiques are aimed at the Modi government, not India. It's easy to put an "anti-national", "funded", "khalistani" and other labels on anyone who criticizes to refute their arguments without validating them at first. The government diverts our attention from criticisms by using such tactics

There is literally a money trail tracing him to Canadian Khalistanis though. Is being pro-khalistani being pro-modi or pro-India?

100% agree with @DemandBetterCulture

The problem with Dhruv is that he seems to consider himself as the messiah of justice but he is just doing a one sided game. He keeps on brainwashing the public in the pretext of being a secular person. Every video he makes gets a counter video but he never replies to them clearly says his ideology.

I second with that.

Counters are mostly cherry picking and extrapolate small mistakes. BJ party couldn't counter most of his points.

Just an observation - This comment section and most of grapevine clearly aligns with :
"The urban areas having the most votes for NDA and the rural areas having more votes for INDIA explains a lot about the country and where the mainstream hate actually comes from."

Indeed.

Not really the case in my state though.

Guy is an idiot and egoistic with a Rich Dad on the side of Congress due to their businesses. Saw a reddit post where one of his classmates anonymously mentioned that he's like a trust fund kid with a lot of ego and big head.

Right. I had also read the post that you are referring to but what’s the authenticity of that post either?

DizzyBiscuit

True there is no authenticity but in the world of many youtubers/Influencers, I rather block them than listen to them anymore with such accusations.

I interacted and debated with him in a few reddits threads, back when he was just coming up in the youtube circles. The biggest problem I had with him was that he was intellectually dishonest, wouldn't accept validity of anything that jeopardizes his argument or augments someone else's.

There are a lot of things wrong with BJP but BJP does get somethings right. I wouldnt trust anyone whose stand is consistently in opposition to an entity, other than politicians cause their job requires them to be.

It is amusing to see how many are criticising random youtubers for being biased when the entire mainstream media has been playing a biased role all along.
Day before yesterday, even a Govt representative on twitter used the word “rabid youtuber”, guess he must have already realized what is going to be the result, so the frustration came out in those words…

A few weeks or months ago, it was RW folks who were ruling online media, but just during election campaigning period, a few online folks came and changed the narrative, can that even happen!

GroovyCupcake

Actually mainstream media has always been biased (not only during bjp times). I remember how ndtv used to be during inc times. And this is not the issue only in india tbh. Mainstream media is extremely biased in USA too. If anyone expects unbiased news from media, joke is on them. It is a tool to control masses (which i am sure anyone would use if they wish to continue to be in power).

@PinkHedge Probably you didn’t watch TV during 2011-2014 period, when all the anti-UPA protests were held, for several scams and crimes.

I hope you do see godi media too always praising the ruling government. I bet people who choose to ignore that can ignore Dhruv too. Also from a content creation pov he is catering to a diff set off audience. Brainwashing is done by Noida news channels too. This is just balancing out. I am no fan of his but when you don’t complain about Noida channels you shouldn’t for the single You Tuber.

DizzyBiscuit

Balancing? Bro, they are all bad influencers and Media. There is no grey/Good area for them if they are too one-sided even during good cases.

he's an idiot, what he speaks is correct but he acts in bad faith, he'll only present one side of the argument and make the other side a villain, which is not the case in real life where things are more shades of gray instead of black and white.

I don't like his style but dude does his research and delivers them in a way that stays with you. Whether you like the delivery or not is personal and depends on which side you're on. He brings some welcome discourse and fire. I don't agree with how he goes about it but can't beat him on logic. However, I want to see how he holds the govt to account if it's not BJP.

DerpyPenguin

What research dude 😂😂 most of his research are mis interpretations of the biased reports. Dude, do you really think India is bad with freedom of press, democracy, hunger index and all.. most of the things he claims, the same papers or documents which he uses as reference, tells the opposite story. He don't even know to interpret reports properly and always have Anti-India agenda. He is agenda driven and not research driven and making people fools by wrong stories and claims.

Once you have read the book How to Lie with Statistics and that he never counter any points and quietly deletes video which. Become wrong ( crypto) instead of owning it you will see he is just another stooge.. also dunno why but youtube keeps pushing his video..even when i have marked it as not interested.. talking about level playing field is such an irony

Watch before it’s too late…

Love him or hate him, but please watch the video once. This increasing dictatorship has to end.
