Thoughts? Colleges asking for a fee to get placed? Damn thatβs a new low. ππ«
What is wrong with these colleges, hearing this for the first time.

WTF.

Seriously, kids pay 15L++ for Engineering degrees and then they get docked commission fees?
Sounds like an Income Sharing Agreement, except no Agreement was there. Lmao πππ

Sometimes I feel I'm too lucky, I still haven't paid fees for my 7th and 8th semester :(

Placement fees are taken by every college while admissions or during sem fees of placements season. It is usually a fixed amount for all. However, I'm not aware of colleges taking % of CTC as fees.

@tzr This is the first time I am hearing of this. This is such a shady practice. I have heard of no one in my entire social group who has paid this fee. Especially for something like placements.
Is this a common practice?

Yes. Maybe you forgot about paying placement fees because it has been a long time since then or because you were on scholarship.
This is from the bangalore sub right? I saw some folks commenting that this is also common in IITs.
Placement fee is taken upfront along with college fee and not as part of CTC.

It's kinda embedded in the tuition fee so it's not explicitly visible. Some colleges do mention this as a separate fee but again collected during the admission only.

I also paid such because for my placements there were external tools are used for my placements preparation for that i had to pay such amount for it

@criticalresourceF99 Ah so that is understandable that subscription fee for prep tools was taken but a fixed percentage of salary is a massive π©π©

I assume he is an average fresher who got placed in 4 lpa . Then 2.1 % is something less than 10k odd. And this post was written in a way to portray that colleges are bad by linking the fee into percentage of CTC why can't the person go by how much the college was actually asking as a training fee is where I differ here because these days courses cost a lot
