@Indiecrypto Any company can use and benefit from it, not just meta. Capitalistic companies rarely do anything with the sole intent of "being good". It's good that it's at least it's open-source

I'm not sure if they will ever take that path after the Cambridge Analytica case and the huge criticism and public shaming that followed.

This is a dumb take. They don’t need open source. Oss needs them.

You don’t “performance improve” open models with your own data. Better to train a new model from scratch with proprietary data. OSS has given a few things to them, but they still contribute a lot.

Not to forget, fair is headed by yann le cun, and the team is at par with deepmind and open ai. Most open source techniques and examples are geared towards fine tuning (or c implementation) where you don’t need much compute. Any insights they could have had would have been hosting and/or adding knowledge iteratively - both of those won’t be solved by oss.
