India is a growing economy. It needs to grow faster than already developed economies like the US and Canada. To grow faster u need more money in the economy. When u have more money in the economy, that leads to inflation. Higher inflation than the developed countries leads to depreciation in currency value. It's a conscious choice, the Government can stop Rupee depreciation if they want to, but that will lead to slowdown in other goals like economic growth
