Thinking of taking 5-6 months break and switching to Freelancing

Hello everyone, currently I am in a service based company earning 9 lpa as a frontend developer(React) for 4 months. Before that I was in Tcs for 1.5 years. I am not happy in the current project. Changing project is not possible. I am thinking of resigning and taking 5-6 months to start freelancing as frontend/full-stack developer or start preparing for product based companies.

What are your opinions?

Why do you need to quit to do freelancing? Can't you do both at the same time and then quit later when your freelancing income is equal to salary?

Let me tell you freelancing is no easy. Especially when there are tons of front end developers in the market ready to do the gig at a cheaper price

The job is too exhausting, I am too tired for personal learning or freelancing plus stress of the job

I am someone who had taken a year long break personally earlier. I would not recommend taking a break if you are super sure that you can get a job 6 months down the line if things don’t work out as you plan.

If you want to do freelancing, try getting a few clients while you are on this job. Developing a freelance portfolio is time taking and you might spend multiple months before you land your 1st customer.

To add to this hiring market is very difficult right now, and it may even worsen in months to come and in 2024 first half. So stick to your current job if you can and keep trying outside while being at job.

How did your break turned out? What if I prepared for product based companies in the break?

Ya seems plausible. But u at least wanna have some groundwork done before resigning. Take leaves and so it

I have no loans/emi or any other expenses as of now. I am working from home. Work load is quite heavy so would not be able to prepare while working.
