Thinking of switching from frontend developer to automation tester (SDET
I worked for around 3.5 years as a frontend developer (React) but from the last 3 months doing UI automation ( cypress+ cucumber).
Is it good to switch from developer to automation tester. I will learn other automation tools.
So much stress in development and anxiety Whenever I get a new feature, a project to work on I get too much anxiety. Currently working on automation I am enjoying it and feeling so much relaxed.
And also frontend developer roles are too crowded nowadays. Everyone is a react developer from College. Is it good in the future to switch lines?

Don’t blame roles are crowded, keep upscaling and be at top. It’s depends on company - you can get more anxiety even in testing.
Most dumbest question I’ve ever seen from a Senior Dev?? Is this for real?
I understand your perspective, but for me, it's more about long-term mental well-being and work-life balance. I’ve realized that I feel much more relaxed and motivated while working in automation. My goal is not to chase titles but to build a sustainable career. I plan to work for only 7–8 more years in IT. So I'm focusing on what I enjoy and what keeps me mentally healthy. Switching to automation isn’t a downgrade — it’s a choice that aligns with my goals and peace of mind
