Thinking of starting a fashion brand
I have been thinking about it for a while now. And I think it’s time to execute. So just wanted to ask some advice here on
- product (what should we launch with)
- positioning (segment)
- pricing
- how and where to get good manufacturer initially
- marketing strategy

My idea: limited quantity, limited drops, unique design
Product: t shirts, shirts, jewellery, jeans, track pants etc.
USP: Unique design, premium quality fabric, great photography and marketing
Investment: ~10lakhs
Brand name: TBD
Positioning: premium/ultra premium
Pricing: 3-5k per item or more
Brand inspiration: blueorange, jaywalking, almost gods.
I am a designer with non fashion background. Who has worked in a premium fashion brand earlier. And I think I can pull it off.
What do you think about the idea? Will this work?
I am also looking for a fashion designer with a unique design taste who wants to start his/her own brand.
You can start but think about placement. Do you want to open a physical store or go online If online then in which platform you want to advertise what is the end goal. Are you looking for a 5 yr plan and In the end you will raise funds and close this startup. If there is a physical store then think about the country city location.
It’s going to be online in the start. Without fund raise, and yeah I have only 1 year plan.
Why are you so strong opinionated about it getting closed in future?
Think about the long term plan 1 yr is nothing you need 6 months in opening a bank account then gst and other formalities
Aren't there already a multitude of players targeting the same segment, with the clothing concept?
Yes. So? Can’t there be another brand? If that was the case swiggy and amazon prime wouldn’t have existed. There are many such examples.
I will be fighting for a certain % in that segment. Which is totally fine. It will all depend on the execution and the value. Right?
