Yes because of course your goal with a startup is not to make money right? Right?? Such statements only apply to founders, not to your employees. Pay your damn employees what they deserve.

We as a community need to figure this out and talk a bit more about what expectations from founders are. I see little merit in trying to outcompete openai. We are usually quite happy to match our peers in the valley. Someone needs to document what good compensation ranges are and for what kind of talent.
