The Workplace Flexibility Façade

My company boasts about work-life balance, but guilt-trips anyone who uses it. How do you actually take advantage of ""flexible"" policies? They advertise unlimited PTO, but heaven forbid you actually try to use it. I'm starting to think it's all just for show.

Has anyone successfully navigated the gap between promised and actual workplace flexibility?
