The Topmate Scam!
Recently i was talking to my senior just for fun and wanted to see what exactly is this whole thing
So he paid xxx Rupees to the person for a Call 1:1 and he asked if I'm having 2.5yrs exp I need to switch to faang This guy '22 Passout says I will give you a roadmap for 6 months you need to pay 23,xxx Rupees I will give you a referral in my faang (He is in one of them) I have the roadmap I will make sure you learn LLD My senior has 2.5 exp in a startup that was listening to him and eventually said I'll think about it and ended the call
Someone who has just entered is giving advice like they have worked for 5-6 years I've seen students in college start topmate and they are in top1% stuff Do these things are really required And Ego of those is such high They are not realising achieving faang is part of life not the whole life

Topmate is the kind of scam where 3rd year B.Tech student is giving a PM course for 4500βΉ to a 8 yoe Infosys Sr. Engineer. π€£π π€·ββοΈ

Are you saying that your grandfather is smarter than you? Years don't matter, experience and being in a field does.

Are you on topmate @wholesomebruh?π

my flatmate is on topmate and he gives shit advice
A bigger fish will always eat a smaller fish, that's the rule.
Topmate is professional onlyfans.
I have seen my batch mates charge 500 for a 15 min session, 1.5k for 1:1 session
DSA se agge kuch nahi atta. They have 0 years of experience. Ek LLD puchlo toh pasina chutt jata hai. 2 projects on GitHub. That too calculator app using html css js and portfolio website using react and node.

Topmate Cycle:
- Write a post on LinkedIn how you got your internship/job and gaining spotlight like How I got this opportunity after facing a lot of hurdles or How I got n number of offers.
- Then chomu youtubers for earning money host a podcast where they talk about generic questions like how did you get this job? You struggles and lmao the answers are too generic.
- Then after gaining followers they say I can't DM everyone so here is my topmate.
Aur aise chalti hai in logo ki dukaan. Tech Karu jaat bar gyaan feku raat bhar.

Exactly yahi hota hai bhai. Aisa lagta hai sab mile huye hai. Waise bhi Jo ye fake advices k liye pay karte unki bhi utni hi galti hai bcoz wo bhi kahi na kahi shortcut dhundh rhe hai waha tak pahunchne ka.

That's the problem with this gen. I have seen that people of this gen don't want to struggle even 0.001% they want shortcuts for everything and they are ready to pay anything. Thankfully, I never had this bubble of shortcuts.

Topmate people are just greedy people. I want to report them all for fraud but what to even do.
- People who have just graduated and have 5-6 months work ex giving gyaan on how to crack in PM.
- People asking money to just clear a doubt.
- People asking 15k for a mock interview.
- People asking money to give a referral. Where did those days go when people actually wanted to help others?

Yeah, cry about government implying taxes, shopkeeper earning on your product, grow up sir.

I've already grown up. I'm not sure about you. It seems like you were never helped by your batchmates and seniors to grow personally and professionally. Simple rule for me: The things that you get for free shouldn't be passed for money to anyone.

Topmate is a cheap rip off of glg and guidepoint. There is no screening for mentors and hence anyone can become a montor.
This is one way of people trying to get freelancing gigs easily without a market name.
These are the folks I have seen:
-
Linkedin says iit but they have done a certification course and has put iit on every part of linkedin. Even the cover page.
-
1 to 3 years of experienced folks claiming to be product leaders
-
Reviews which are fake and has been generated by taking sessions for INR 10 where thier friends review it.
-
You become top 5% by just 20 to 30 classes and a 5 star rating.
-
Everyone who is open to work seems to be on topmate selling courses.
-
Ex head of dunzo, ex head of jupiter, present head pocketfm ( well same person going to different companies where the company is failing) has put 15k per hour for mock interview and then she takes your interview when you apply ππ fraudster max.....
On a serious note. If you need guidance, real people won't charge for it and you can try you luck with a simple message and offer a coffee or. Beer from your end and your learnings( even if you are just early in your career) . We will appreciate that much much more than a 15k session.

Bro if people have understood k it is just a part of life than these things would have ended long ago, but today everyone is just wanted to get into faang which is good for them but they don't understand k these platforms and YouTube channels of faang people, most are just milking them and exploiting them. Har ek din koi Naya aadmi kahi se uthke aata hai galti se kisi faang ya ache product based mein lag gya toh fir video banana start karta hai ya LinkedIn pe post dalta hai and in every video and post they just promote their topmate link. I have seen people posting their struggle stories and in the end say if you don't want to struggle like me connect with me on so n so link. Good for them but not good for people who believe in this BS k unko contact karte hi they will become faang person.

Guys, donβt blame topmate, blame the people misusing them. I had a resume session for βΉ50 and it turned out really good for me.
