The Reality of Living Here

Living in India can feel like a disgrace; every single day feels like absolute madness. Life here is incredibly hard because the system, the administration, and society itself feel completely broken and corrupt. Everything is falling apart. You will find garbage everywhere. Where I live, in my local complex, there is trash lying around year-round. There is constant waterlogging, and the surroundings just look incredibly ugly. On top of this, the government charges exorbitant taxes. This year alone, I paid around ₹1,50,000 in income tax. If you calculate GST and all other indirect taxes, my total tax burden easily reaches ₹7 to ₹8 lakhs. And what do I get in return? Absolutely nothing. I get a broken system, corrupt bureaucrats, and crumbling infrastructure. The people here are not dependable. We live in a fragmented, low-trust society that discriminates based on absolutely everything—caste, religion, region, language, and skin color. Even as someone who is tall and good-looking, I feel judged and discriminated against, sometimes even by foreign tourists who can't seem to believe someone like me belongs here. But honestly, the harsh climate and severe pollution wear you down so much that eventually, the environment just leaves you looking and feeling completely exhausted and degraded. The climate is unbearable. We endure nine months of extreme summer in North India, with temperatures peaking at 50°C and averaging around 45°C. Then, during the rainy season, Gurugram becomes impossible to navigate because all the roads are heavily waterlogged. Add the suffocating air pollution to the mix, and it is far from an ideal place to live. It is a dog-eat-dog world out here. To make matters worse, the food is heavily adulterated. If you consume these contaminated products long enough, it feels like a fast track to getting cancer. There is simply no system that works here; everything is paralyzed by deep-rooted corruption

And people have accepted the fate. If you raise this point people will ask you to go to Pakistan. We are living in strange world with lack of sympathy and empathy.

I still feel that you are trying to compare developed and developing nations. But yes, I agree that people have accepted this as part of life and not raising concerns, that attitude will not help to acheive developed status ever

Well, I live in Hyderabad. Not saying its utopia... But I do compare India with yesterday's India not the US, UK directly... My place had an 8 hour power cut a day in 2014(2014 because of the state division not solely crediting the BJP here), water issues, farm suicides etx... Over time I have seen improvements... Again not utopia... Improvements....Today no power cuts, improved water supply, improved police service, massive changes in Hyderabad infra, farm output..... May be I am biased.... But I don't think I live in MADNESS and SHITHOLE....

And nope... I am not satisfied with what we have today... Need to improve further... While I feel ashamed of issues also feel happy when new power plants( Yadadri), new manufacturing units (Micron memory chips, Tata fab and osat etx), new infra (Delhi Mumbai expressway, RRTS, Khammam-Devarapalli expressway) happen

There are only two kinds of people who crib in India

  • salaried
  • honest businesman.

Once you move out of this group, life in India is ok. Sometimes even fantastic.

I stayed in Sweden for 10 years and came back here. The quality of life was better there. But I still missed India.

The weighted average indirect tax rate is 11.64 percent so if you spent 5.5 lakhs in other taxes that's a net spend of 47 lakhs. Aisa kya khareed liya bhai 1 saal mein. Also only 1.5 lakhs Income tax so your income is definitely not more than 47 lakhs. Interesting!!
