Trending @Accenture; The Office Feels Like a Machine—Where’s the Human Connection?
Returning to the office after five years feels incredibly difficult. The environment has changed—everyone is just sitting, working mechanically, almost like human robots. There’s no conversation, no energy, just a silent focus on screens. It feels isolating, as if the social aspect of work has disappeared. The shift from remote or flexible work to this rigid routine is overwhelming. The office used to be a place for collaboration and interaction, but now it feels sterile and cold. Adjusting to this new normal is tough, especially when human connection seems to be missing. The lack of engagement makes the workday feel longer and more draining. It’s not just about being physically present; it’s about feeling a part of something, and right now, that connection is missing. The transition back to office life isn’t just about work—it’s about rediscovering a sense of belonging.

Well said bro... It's not about connection. It's all about satisfying the requirement of coming to the office once a week just to satisfy the policy mandate.
People come to the office adjusting to their personal lives -- nothing wrong with that -- but collaboration does not happen if you are coming on one day and your colleagues are coming on another.
I believe Accenture has failed in the WFO initiative. Establish compartmentalising space by project, assign fixed seats to each person team wise, encourage Birthday celebrations in office, etc

I feel the other way - it's more important to work from the office, as we are struggling to find human connections and interactions. If we don't overcome this phase of life we will become robots stuck in four walls.
Go to the office, try to start a conversation with strangers if your team is not available. Over the period of time this is going to help a lot.

You are free to go even without a mandate. No one is stopping you from doing that, but the truth is most of the people will prefer WFH any day over WFO. People have their friends and family in their hometown and they are the real buddies and stress busters, not your colleagues!

Completely understand what you are saying. Think this from an organisation stand point - do you think they are making this as mandatory based on their call. No. Organisation is answerable to the government - they are giving tax exemption and all to run an IT or any other firm, because people will be staying nearby and that will help the state and the place this business is located.
Now let's say you are tagged to any office space in Bengaluru and you are working from a remote village in any other state. Your package will be considered based on your base location. But your expenses are not that much as you are in the village. This looks beneficial for resources. But the government won't allow that.
Saving Money is one of the major reasons for not moving to a base location. Those who are going to the office also have Friends and Family. Here some folks think they are oversmart when organisation asks to report to the base location. That's why now they mandated WFO for a day. There was not much option to WFH before Covid. Covid created such situations, now people are not willing to come out of their comfort zone. Just to note Friends and family are there for the people serving us in Jammu and Kashmir too.
And I just expressed the reason behind this mandate - it's completely up to you whether that needs to be followed or not. 😊

True! It doesn't feel the same as before. I also started working from the office after four years, but honestly, I can't concentrate on work there. It feels like I'm a fresher again—I hesitate in everything and have even forgotten how to talk to people face-to-face. But now, even going to the office won’t make things like they used to be, whether it's for one day or three days. The working environment has changed, and so have the people. I get really bored in the office; there's no enjoyment. People just sit like robots in front of their laptops all day.

@NeighboringMissile29 come to magarpatta office, we have fun each day
