The IT Midlife Crisis: Finding My Way

Hey friends, I'm feeling a bit stuck in my IT career and I could use some advice. I've been in the industry for 15 years, but I've had a bit of a winding path - I've switched domains a few times, trying to find the right fit. The problem is, I'm not sure I've really mastered any one skill, and that's starting to worry me.

I'm getting up there in age (40 is just around the corner!), and I know I need to think about my long-term career prospects. I'm hoping to keep working in IT for at least another 4-5 years, but I'm getting a little anxious about layoffs and all that. I've seen it happen to friends and colleagues, and it's a scary thought. Plus I have got EMIs to pay.

On the plus side, I've got some solid skills - I'm a decent developer, pretty good at QA, and I've got some strong analytical skills. My current job is okay, but I'm not feeling particularly inspired or motivated. And to make matters more complicated, Trump's policies have already taken a hit on my investments, so that's adding to the stress.

I'm looking for advice from anyone who's been in a similar spot. How did you navigate uncertain times in your career? What skills did you focus on developing? How did you stay positive and motivated? Any tips or insights would be super helpful - thanks in advance!
