The fear of layoffs

I am currently in TCS completed almost 4 years here. I want to switch and I am confident I can crack a mod level company and get a decent hike, but then my fear kicks in of getting laid off. I am the only one earning in my family and soon getting married. If I get laid off everything will stop. I have decent skills but as we all know skillful or not you are not immune from getting laid off. 😶‍🌫️

You will be stuck till your mind stops working and your confidence of cracking mid level company breaks down. And then TCS will lay you off!!
So prepare and leave, get the best offer you can and never look back.

Build some savings if you are worried too much. Save to sustain 1 year without a job and you are ready to go any route.

Look for same shitty companies which have high job security and low pay like tcs for example infosys, i can say if you switch like this in every 2 years you will feel underpaid

It’s simple- if you want the bucks, then you need to take the risks. Warna kuch nahin hoga 🤷‍♂️

Better to go for the interviews and get the offer from 2-3 if you are pretty much confident, then decide to move to stable company if you some this fear in mind and it’s genuine thought don’t worry. Offers from smaller companies can help you in negotiating well with other companies.

You like to overthink and create problems for yourself. Stop assuming, plan for the future, act in the present. All the best 👍🏻.

Worst case even if you are laid off you are eventually going to get the next job in 1-2 months after layoff . If you can clear interview and switch with 90 day NP , you should be good to clear as immediate joiner.

You need to come out and see the world mate. You think you will only get laid off out of millions of other developers? The world is much more bigger than you think.
