Most engineering colleges are theoretical. Thanks to reservation in teacher recruitment. Most of them have no real life experience. college are just formal tuition center which focus on "passing exams".
Am yet to hear even professors from elite colleges like IIM running their own hedge fund or even a investment portfolio. I hope am wrong.
The last professor who spoke too much was from ISB, who went around mouthing how most MBA's are useless and good only for selling credit cards at petrol bunks. he was on the board of a Tech company that went belly up in 2008 for cooking books.
I had one prof actually. He actually had a trading firm, he had a patent, he had his own lab, had a company. He was literally amazing, I only knew him after college.
