Tech guidance for non tech founders

A friend and I have identified a niche requirement for finance functions of listed Indian entities. We would need to build a tech platform which allows our clients to create some kind of a public web page, the contents of which would be managed and controlled by our back end. A SaaS / CRM solution.

Since we come from core finance backgrounds with primitive tech knowledge, please can you guide on:

  • Would it be feasible to outsource the development of this software to an outside agency
  • What kind of employees would be need to hire once the platform is ready - they would need to troubleshoot, build on new features etc.
  • What would the cost of development be? We are looking to self fund this venture and achieve some scale before seeking funding if required.
  • Any resources to read up to get better idea of tech? I have zero idea of languages, codes, platforms etc.

Thank you :)

Get a tech co-founder or a senior consultant on payroll, take his help and a third party service provider to build the MVP. I have done projects with these folks they are decent: www.techuz.com. The tech guy has to submit the following to you/get your sign off:

  1. Scope of work
  2. Sprint plan
  3. Bug report
  4. Architecture / DB structure
  5. Access to Git and AWS. (Only you have root access)

Its tough without a full time tech co founder but initial phase chal jaayega.

You can build a very basic version with no-code tools nowadays. Build it fast, get your first client and then raise funding.

You really don't need to spend lakhs and pay to some software developer agency to build an MVP.
