TCS will lose AI race
Hi team,
I have been with TCS for 3.5 years, working with Python, AWS, Azure, ML, Gen AI, and Agentic AI. I have also worked on multi-agent systems. Recently, I received an external offer from Infosys with an 85% hike on my current CTC. My manager asked me about retention, so I said I would stay at TCS if they could offer me around a 70% increase. TCS offered me only a 30% hike. Now I have a new offer that is 115% higher than my current salary. My manager is struggling to find a replacement for me, and in an email, they mentioned that hiring someone externally with my skill set would cost 20 LPA. Yet, TCS is only offering me 11.5 LPA, which is disappointing. It seems that there are not many people with hands-on experience in these technologies available in the market, and external candidates are not joining TCS because the pay is not competitive. Competitors are hiring people with ML and Gen AI skills at 30-40% higher salaries than TCS is offering. I feel that TCS is falling behind in the AI space race.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any advice or insights would be appreciated.
Thanks, An Agentic AI Developer

Empty vessels sound more, similar is case with AI at TCS, no real work but executives keep shouting ai ai ai

Move on, TCS is not part of AI race. Its service bases compony, no matter how much cxo people shout ai ai, untill unless they get that project where client purchases all licenses and tcs has minimum of 50 to 80% profit margin, they will not ai in their portfolio.
Here everything given by client, and they need to atleast 5 times your whole ctc on top of that.
So you dont have long scope with tcs, once client finds a new vendor to do samw work .. it will not renew contract with tcs.
This is my understanding from my client, where I worked in tcs.
Go ahead with your next offer, do yourself a favor.

First of all Don’t call yourself as Agentic AI Developer and that to from TCS!!! lol!! Tcs don’t have any such projects yet which is actually based on AI and GenAI. Doing some copilot and ChatGPT and calling LLM apis don’t make you ai engineer!!!

Yes you are right but I worked on an agentic AI project one is running in production which is created using bedrock agent and another is a piolet created using Langgraph and deployed on azure

Here they will get freshers to work for that. They don't need specialists.

Hello how can I connect with you as I am also learning GenAI good with DSA and looking for a switch
