TCS: Time for a Rethink?

It’s hard to ignore the fact that TCS shares have fallen nearly 25% from their recent highs, wiping out significant investor wealth in a company long considered the crown jewel of Indian IT.

While global headwinds and sector-wide slowdowns play a role, some of TCS’s internal policies are starting to raise eyebrows:

🔹 Rigid Return-to-Office Mandate: In a hybrid world, TCS continues to push for full-time office attendance, leading to employee dissatisfaction and attrition.

🔹 Lack of Transparent Communication: The company’s handling of promotions, internal mobility, and bench policies remains opaque, especially during slowdowns.

🔹 Leadership Fatigue? With minimal innovation and an over-reliance on legacy deals, it seems TCS is reacting rather than leading.

🔹 Underwhelming Growth Strategy: Compared to nimble competitors, TCS appears slow in adopting cutting-edge AI, automation, and consulting-driven models.

When a company’s stock underperforms and talent feels underappreciated, it’s time to question both strategy and leadership.

TCS needs bold changes — not just in business, but in mindset.

Time for a rethink was at least 2 years ago. Now the damage is done.

Very aptly written
I would like to add two points to it. This management has lost credibility from both long term investors and employees together.

  • Last FY they projected the BSNL deal as a huge revenue machine to the investors, whereas, persons with a little bit of internal knowledge knew the actual truth, now they are chewing their own words.
  • First they announced that 25-25-25 drama because they knew at the time of high demand none of the good talents will move to TCS with a lower package, so they bluffed about the hybrid model. Once the demands are subdued, they are the first among all IT majors to enforce 5 days a week by threatening disciplinary action
  • They completely misread the sentiment, with stringent policies they are hoping to reduce the headcount, by this only the top talents are leaving left and right. If the market conditions recover even a tiny bit and demands open up (seems unlikely), attrition will skyrocket for TCS.

Hahaha, they can't hear as our upper management is afraid to talk with their supervisor and manager,

They are not gonna listen, and then the employee who works does not manage, and goes into depression and is planning to change company asap as their manager, HR and supervisor is suckkkkkkks.

The biggest thing is fuckin appraisal, they don't give much appreciation and salary is really need to change

You are correct my friend adding to that corporate senior citizen are also spoiling things who don't want to do new or implement things. I gave idea they didn't gave tech support and client found and did it. TCS will soon turn like BSNL.

They have also discontinued the cab service in Delhi NCR, I don’t know what they are trying to do. Expecting employees to come to office and not giving cab.

Trying to save money ?
