What is the retention process for a resigned associate? Is it ok to resign without any offer hoping that I will be retained or find another offer within 3 months?

Retention is not guaranteed. TCS might retain you if you are critical to a project, but it's not a sure thing. Better to have another offer before resigning.

Resignation can be withdrawn any time I hear. Is it also not guaranteed? That could be last resort if nothing works.

Resign if you have financial support/backup and you are very confident that you would end up getting an offer otherwise safest option is to resign with an offer
