Why the basic pay is so low.

I have the same question, yes.

What I understand is that this is a strategy by the organisation to save a lot of money on tax.
If it is low, accordingly HRA, PF and related components will also be low which means company needs to put less money from their end. They have put everything outside Basic under BoB.

Thanks a ton @Incognito_X - this is really helpful. I am going at Assistant Consultant designation. Is QVA payout really that bad at my designation as well?

Yes, you won’t get 100% anytime soon. Plus there will be more deductions if you add your parents to the insurance etc. There are no allowances there like other companies, so more money will go towards tax.

Thank you @Sandeep1331 - indeed we have a lot of deductions at TCS.

~1.41 l/m. Retention bonus is not considered. On top of this, once in every 3 months you are supposed to get ~43 k post tax Performance bonus (Quarterly Variable Allowance). However, for the past few quarters QVA payout is very bad. Based on your CTC,I assume you in Associate Consultant grade. Last quarter QVA payout for this grade was 35%.

No company gives as per our calculation. When they see the payslip HRs say that your previous company is not transparent regarding ctc. But reality is no company will be transparent
