TCS planning to layoff 2% of workforce within a year. Around 12000+.

Primarily middle and senior level associates will be relieved from their services. For each Unit there are around 45-50% associates in Middle and senior level. So this number of 12000 will actually be affecting the levels. So it will be 12000 from these 50% middle and senior s. I.e.300000

Keep updating skills everyone. If unluckily u r getting caught in this storm over the year, then atleast you will find it easy with good relevant skills.

I am in QA role but currently upgrading to AI ML to transition into those kind of roles which utilise these skils. If in case I ask for a release from current project, would I be at risk on bench?

This number is only for the external world. This 2 Percentage been arrived by showing a wrong calculation. Out of 620000 TCS population, 420000 are Juniors which means below C3A Grade. C3A, C3B, C4 and C5 put together comes at 2 Lakhs associates. So out of 2 Lakhs Associates, they are removing 12400 Associates which is 6.2%.

This makes sense and infact true. But i think some associates who are on bench for long time and not falling in C3A above category also will be impacted.
