Trending @Cognizant; TCS laid off 12000 employees. Not sure how we survive in IT industry going forward
This is wrong news - they didn't laid of yet - they are planning to lay off 2% of work force - based on skill requirement over next 2 year period - that too mid and senior level - that's a normal drive in all industries serving clients. Also if you haven't spent time in TCS you won't know that most mid senior level employees are lazy as TCS don't layoff people easily - but over the decade this has hampered company performance and they aren't getting projects much on new technologies so it's better to lay off the lazy unskilled workforce who don't want to work and just get money. 2% is normal layoff attrition number - also the CEO mentioned that attrition rate has decreased in TCS which also says that mid senior people are not getting job outside and just sitting in TCS for years because no one will give them jobs easily. Better to start working now - it's a good push to rest workforce. No layoff done till now it's a future plan I repeat.
They already done and laid off silently
I have friends as HRBP in TCS and as far as I know - layoff or termination cases go daily in big companies who are not performing well or wrong hired - but mass termination which we term as Layoff has not happened yet as TCS always branded themselves under Job security - but as we know we people take advantage of good policies and suddenly over years we see people in workforce who are not working in TCS as they know they won't layoff - but now even TCS seeing the impact of culture. Just imagine in india where we have policy of paternity leave same as maternity leave for 6 months max as per requirement - I would say 99% people will take whole 6 months leave without thinking about impact on business. So IT market is not bad but companies like TCS are not getting business in new technologies because of lazy mid and senior management who do work much. If you have talent and skills you get employees easily but in our country people without talent just want jobs. With less work and earn money. This mindset will soon result the IT sector to shift to other nations with good work ethics and attitude.
I heard from TCS insiders that they actually laid of 30,000 not just 12,000 I am not talking about 2014 I am talking about 2025
