TCS fresher query and rant about project calls

I’m a ninja fresher who just completed training and started to meet RMG from this week. I got call few days ago from a panelist and she didn’t mention the project name, role or anything else and just told me to meet the manager of the project in another branch. I just completed an interview for Linux admin role bank project and waiting for them to call back for result.

I told that to her and she told she will give this feedback to HR and I got called today for HR discussion. He told me that the feedback he got is “I am not willing to work in that branch”. I told the HR what I said to her but he didn’t listen and kept saying you’re a fresher and you should work in any branch and role you’ve been given. He told me I should accept any call I get next and wants me off the bench asap.

From the moment I joined TCS nothing happened well for me. Got thrown into IT IS then training then was pushed into Xceed training and spent 3 months in total training. I already hate this company so much even though it’s been barely 4 months.

My query is that I’m trying to get at least a devops support role (which is impossible to get according to my RMG) and the HR said I would have a lot of opportunities to upskill and change to the role I want. Is that true? I doubt that’s true but wanted to know the truth from experienced people here and my path forward.

TCS internal project change system is horrible. Try to get connections from your seniors or LinkedIn and approach them directly for the roles and opportunities. That being said do it quickly, because RMG is in a constant pressure to allocate your and will do so eventually with or without your consent unless you find some project willing to take you in.

I tried connecting with my college alumni and other connections but sadly no response. I’m kind of scared I’ll be pushed into some L0 role or service desk. I’m really hoping to get into a good role at least as support.
