Tax Residence certificate
I am in the process of offloading my shares to my ex employer in their latest buyback. They are registered outside of India and I need to furnish a TRC (tax residence certificate) to avoid being double taxed. A couple of CAs have quoted between 20-30k for this which I find ridiculously unreasonable! Has anyone here gotten it done, if yes then how much did it cost you?
By any chance is it BrowserStack? A friend of mine asked me about it. To answer your query, it's kind of an offline process where they have to work with the Assessing officer from your state jurisdiction. There might be some bribe also involved in getting it. Don't really have 1st hand exp getting it done.
I understand that it is an offline process, but the cost seems to be exorbitant
