As an aside, looks like The Hindu is clearly copying The Economist’s charting style.

For a moment I thought you were bringing religious issues to this thread.

Reduce corporate taxes to attract more corporates to setup base here which will lead to more jobs and then tax those who get jobs in such companies and as a government you shoot 2 targets with one arrow. Increase tax and jobs both. Let the middle class suffer but wait who cares as the middle class hardly votes. Taxpayers are not the vote base to whom anyone wants to work for .

If you reduce corporate tax to attract more corporates, then effectively more corporates should be there and taxes should still increase, right ?

Large corporate have always been paying taxes because of the scale of their business, they can't be non-compliant to Gst or corporate tax. But previously, the people in the working class would be in informal sector paid through cash etc. and there fore, not taxed. This increase in personal income tax is due to formalisation of the working class and due to increase in tax rate (which has been decreasing)

Ofcourse. If you could convert yourself to a consultant and do the same work to your company, both your company and you can save tons of taxes.
