Switching Domain

Hi, Currently I work in Tool Design(Jigs and Fixture design). I am good in 3D model creation and Creating drawings. Here I feel slow growth and so less salaries. I want to switch my domain to development. I have faced UI of Windchill for drawing releases. I want to try hands in Windchill customization, PLM developer, Teamcenter Developer. Of course, here I need to perfect in J2EE. Still I want to take the risk higher pay. So, am I thinking in a right way? Can I expect more paying salaries in this domains? Please do respond. I welcome your suggestions. Thank you.
