Switching companies vs. staying in one company

As the title describes, have been pondering whether staying at one single company makes you an undesirable candidate for hiring or not. This is my first job and have been in Z since the last 2.5 years

What scares me the most is i will become “too comfortable” here and lose my edge

There is another option, to take on things yourself and grow beyond what is asked off you. If you just do what comes to you, you will loose your edge.

I'm pretty much sure that there would be a ton of things that you can do beyond your designated work.

Staying in the same organisation is not bad as long as you're not just staying where you are.

And while you stay longer, you will be able to get deeper into things and can influence org wide decisions, which would be relatively very difficult if you switch ever 2-3 years.

PS: while you do the above, promotions as well as interesting challenges (will make you learn a ton) will come to you.

Heavy lay off is running here and there so, first try to secure your job by concentrate on your job and wait for the right time and then search for better switch.
