Switch from pentesting to software developement

Hey everyone,

I've been working in application security for a year now primarily doing pentesting.While.its been a great learning experience,I'm finding the work becoming repetitive and I'm starting to get bored.

I'm considering making a switch to software development,as I have a solid grasp of programming.

My question to you all is Do you think companies will take a chance on me with background in application security but a strong passion and good understanding of software development?
