Switch at 8 yrs

I’ve 8 yrs of exp in salesforce, planning to switch but not getting calls, is it because companies won’t hire much ppl with 8+ yrs exp due to higher package? Please share your views how should i attempt for switch. Looking for techno functional role in switch
