Suggestions of resignation

Currently, I am allocated to a project in TCS, but I want to switch my career to another technology. However, my manager has not given me a release from the current project.

Question:

If I submit my resignation within a week, will I be out of TCS immediately, or do I need to serve the full 90-day notice period?

I asked for release when I had the offer letter but manager didn't released from project, I put the papers and now I don't have any offer letter. But very happy that I resigned
