Stuck into the startup hell

When I was in 7th semester i joined as early-stage IIID startup, they said they will hire me as a full-time employee after the 5 month, after the 5 month I am asking for my full time, they said at this stage we can afford a full time employee we will surely hire you after the 3 month, and now 3 month completed and I am asking for my full time they said we will releases your full time offer letter you can join as a full time after your clg, after some arguments i said okay bcz i have just 2 month left in my btech so I said send me the offer letter and they was like ya just sending tomorrow, sending..and sending I asked the offer letter 4-5 times and he did not send said just sending stuck into the problem, now what I do I am just thinking i can definitely crack another offer letter in 1 month , but i have to start from scratch as a intern thats the problem, but I am thinking I will delete all the database all the code and everything which I can bcz I have admin access of everything cloud , GitHub so i am gonna to do it in next 2 days but I am stuck into that by what I am getting nothing but fir bhi Krna toh padega vrna yad kese rkhega ..........

If you delete anything, that might end up filing a case against you by the company. That might make you pay some compensation to the company. Since when you signed the docs while joining the company as an intern it would present in the terms and conditions. Don't do that and spoil your IT career.

I did not signed any document when I joined as a intern , thank you for your advice I am taking as a feedback

Man just do it. Would be fun since you haven't signed anything

First thing remember your still in college and without a proper degree you cannot expect offer letter, every team has its own limitations to get FTE and has to fulfill certain criteria like education qualification. Finish your college, and if they give offer letter continue there or else take experience letter for internship and apply for full time job outside.

Don’t ever do anything so stupid as to delete any company database or documents. That will out a black mark on your profile and no1 will hire you ever again.

I totally agree with you , but why they are giving me hope , i literally said between the internship if there is no offer letter than tell me but they said ya ya definately we will hire as a very competative salary ..

@BrightSilo9 College degree has nothing to do with it People start working full time from 3-4 year in startups, OP's startup clearly don't want to hire full time for obvious reasons when they can hire some intern at penny salary that's why created too much drama

Well honestly if you actually delete anything... you dont deserve offer letter anywhere...

Just take a chill... move on to somewhere else...har jagah badla lena jaruri nahi...

I'd say refrain from deleting data or anything of that sort, follow proper means.
You've mentioned that it's an IITD startup. Best would be to notify the Director of IIT Delhi. You can find his email ID on their website. Attach whatever proof you might have (in case you had this conversation with the Startup folks via email or any other written means).

Yes I have all the conversation (in WhatsApp chat) , I will do that!!

Yes this is actually a very good suggestion, you can bring it up to the notice of IITD officials and looping in that company guys in email. Before doing that, ask some IITD guys about email IDs of all the relevant folks, like placement cell guys, Incubator cell head, department heads etc. And send a mail to everyone, and keeping that corporate guy too in loop. Email should be very polite but at the same time very clearly highlighting the bad name it brings to IIT Delhi.

It is bad, it is wrong, but it is what most organisations do- giving false hopes to innocent students vying to make their space in the IT career. My two cents, don’t waste time into negativities, it will just cause more tensions and worries for you, invest this energy elsewhere. Also, everything has backup, so even if you delete, it would be able to be recovered with some trouble. Just move on, may be later on after getting another offer letter, you can write a detailed feedback/review on glassdoor/linkedin etc

Make sense!! But I have just 2 month left in my graduation and at this time i have to start thing from scratch

Can’t do much unfortunately, many folks passed out in 2022-23 are still jobless, not that it makes your pain any less. But may be that’s why average students who care about jobs and are risk-averse, should stay away such new age startups and smaller organisations. Best wishes.

Think clearly. What you are thinking is naive.

You should ask your manager to tell honestly the reason of the delay and tell you that if they might not be able to give you an offer, they should clarify.

In fact, if they cannot offer, you can request them to put a recommendation to you on LinkedIn or refer you to their friends or investors to help find jobs.

Few years down the line, you would not even remember about this financial loss. And maybe this recommendation can put you in much better spot.

Okay i will talk to them one more time clearly, thank you bhaiya for your advice.

I guess you can delete it anonymously right? The code base. Cause they have been deceiving you. But I'm not sure if there will be any legal implications

Change passwords or create access blocks. Give them enough headache that releasing an offer letter is easier than trying to fix it themselves.

Keep those intrusive and destructive thoughts to your mind only. It's not worth doing what you said in the real world.

PeppyNugget

I like this one, I have to give them headache in the same way which they did with me!!
