Stuck in Limbo: The reality of working at TCS

I’m currently dealing with a very frustrating situation at my job. I was supposed to be released from my project after three months, as per the initial agreement. However, after completing the three months, my project manager informed me that I would need to stay for an additional three months. Now, even after this extended period, they are still not releasing me from the project.

Now they came back with new excuse ki Hume toh new resource hi nhi mil rha hai jbtk new resource nhi milega tbtk hum release nhi kr skte or band dete time itna ganda band diya ki bolte hai ki work kya hi kiya or jb release dene ka time aaya toh bolte hai you’re a very good resource we’re not supposed to loose you itna jldi Aree bhai chahte kya ho yhi mar jaye kya tum logo ki ha mai Haa milate milate or itne sare log hai toh bench pe unhe hire karo. Even they hired a new resource uske liye poori mehnat karai mere se interview lene bola sab kiya now they’re saying ki vo dusri team k liye hai. Or rahi HR ki baat toh unse toh baat krna hi bekar hai jis trha k response milte hai :/

I feel stuck and disheartened as I really don't want to continue working on this project. The work environment is full of office politics, and it seems like people are more focused on pleasing higher-ups rather than doing meaningful work. This is not the kind of professional environment I want to be a part of.

TCS has been a disappointing experience for me, primarily due to the lack of transparency and the political atmosphere.

I'm seeking advice on what steps I can take to get out of this situation. Any suggestion??

Same situation in almost all accounts. Not at all professional behaviour but the only thing you can do is start taking abrupt leaves especially when you have visibility on some upcoming critical activities. Also drop email that you are completely demoralised and can't focus on day to day work post band release and band disagreement hoping you had raised band disagreement.

Not sure what TCS leadership is doing to handle this situation but it has become a common practice to exploit resources especially the ones who are skilled and don't get involved in dirty politics.

One of my friend suggested me not to login he said then they’ll release me from the project. He said he did the same thing but I’m worrying what if they deduct my salary or did something else??

I raised band disagreement but my project lead started comparing my salary with his. Lol I’m an analyst and dude you’re on lead position how can you do this? As an analyst I’m getting chillars from TCS as comparing to his salary what an unprofessional people lmao he said mujhe v accha band nhi mila hai wth

2 times. Ha ha Trust me. Yaha kisi se jhooth bolke kya milega mujhe bro! Nobody likes to keep a liability in his/her team. Sabko escalations se dar lagta hai. So does ur supervisor. they will release u for sure when they realise iske sath daal nahi gal rahi. Behave like a dumb and sit like a duck in the team. Max 1 month. Fir dekho kamal

At least put down the papers. Once the notice period starts, you will get interviews. Specially after 1-1.5 months of notice period is over

It’s 3 months for you, but in my case, it’s been more than a year for the release.

Same story everywhere... If you are lucky then you may end up in a project which is actually work or talent driven... Otherwise politics and han ji han ji is the one drives most of the projects in IT....

I can understand your situation and I can suggest you only one thing to get rid of this situation that is to take unauthorised leaves , late logins and show them that you really don't want to work with them. These things can remind them that you are not interested at all and I am sure this will help you in your situation.

It's the same with everyone. People neither get promotion nor release from the current project. It's all about the billing, as long as they are getting the billing from clients, they don't want to think about anything else. Because everything else doesn't matter to them.

I have been going through the same from the last one year. Anyways, if you are dare enough, then give it a try, but they can do anything they want as a company.

Same situation...all I hear is we are waiting to get ur replacement and till that happens we cannot release you. This can take months or year no one knows. So i have started being away most of the time....taking atleast 2 to 3 adhoc leaves in a month. At least I have some free time to learn something.

Bro I was in a similar situation but about to get out, I told my mental health is declining as my career is getting ruined in this project, I clearly told them I will not work another day here you may escalate to HR as I was told that this project will be temporary, in my case rmg told temporary and when I was 3 months into the project, manager told me that 2 yrs is minimum here and when I spoke to others about this they gave all the stories of people who struggled to get out of here for 3,4 yrs, I made a move quickly in 4th month, they got new people in and I am going to get released in few days i.e, 5th month in the project, I literally cried infront of HR so worked in my case as this is L1 and mu skills can be used in L3, I told them and cried stating all the other reasons. You need to be an actor to pull this off tho.
