Stuck in a Non-Tech Role at TCS – Need Advice!
I joined TCS two months back as a PRIME trainee, and after ILP release, RMG forcefully allocated me to a project in ESU (BFSI), saying I was pre-mapped and couldn’t change my domain. The project involves use of Oracle EBS and PL/SQL, but my background in college was in Java Full Stack and Android development as CSE graduate. I don’t enjoy this work since Oracle EBS feels outdated to me and only the client that been used to it are continuing it, and tends more toward business operations than pure tech. I want to move into core development. Any suggestions on what I can do? Also, what’s the future of Oracle ERP? Should I continue, or will it spoil my future if I switch.

Exactly the same thing happened with me, the same Oracle EBS project is allocated to me without any calls or interviews. I wanted take release but my project leads told me that I must resign in order to get released. Scared to fight further, I stayed in the project reluctantly and 5 months passed by. Taking release now is actually a bit difficult. I suggest you to strongly fight for a release now itself. And I don’t think there are good number of opportunities for this technology compared to other leading ones. Better move out of it.

If you want a release, fight with your PM and team lead now itself. Once there becomes dependency on you, it is very difficult to get release.
